When the Sports Board of
the City of Hannover decided on a new, purely football stadium in
January 2001, an investing competition was initiated. Four offers were
received - two for reconstruction, two for new construction. On November
5, 2001, the administrative board of the City of Hannover decided on a
reconstruction design for the old Niedersachsen Stadium, built in 1954.
The final decision has been ratified by the Council of Hannover. The
meeting took place on December 2001.
The building measures which will be carried
out during the playing season, should begin in 2003 and be concluded by
April 1, 2005 at the latest.
