- In October 1997, the Council of the City
of Leipzig decided to build a new, purely football stadium within
the old stadium ramparts.
- Construction work has been underway
since November 2000.
- EMKA, Real Estate Share Company, has
owned the Stadium since January 10, 2001. Since then about 80
per-cent of the construction work has been allocated.
According to the building schedule, the
Stadium will be completed in May 2003.
